Kamama Monarch Purse

Title: Kamama Monarch - beaded purse by Martha Berry

Materials: Glass beads on wool stroud, cotton, silk ribbon.

To the extent possible, all materials are period authentic to c.1820.

Size: Approx. 6 1/2" H x 6 1/2" W x 1/2" D (excluding handle)

Completion: November 2010

The word kamama is Cherokee for butterfly. This purse is made in the style of early 19th century Cherokee ladies purses, using period authentic techniques. Those techniques include two-needle applique and single-bead edging.
